Hostel | Visit the Frick family in the centre of the Hälsinge forest and relax. Here you can enjoy deep peace and be sure of a warm welcome at this family-run hostel. And animal life, both tame and wild – is just around the corner. This is where biological diversity really means something. And the comfort of our guests.
Larsbogård lies in the centre of the forest and is surrounded by a nature reserve, with fine fishing waters and a lake for swimming close by. We use horses in the smallholding. Come and discover the forest treasure of wild animals, following tours selected by “Nature’s Best”.
Larsbogård is all that remains from an age of forestry that started in the middle of the 18th century. The farm was built in 1920, by Director Burchardt of the Forsså Mill in Näsviken. He owned forests in Larsbo and its surroundings. The house was built to contain four apartments, one for the tenant manager and three others for him to let to other families who worked the forests. The building uses an old timber-building technique, with two storeys of hand-carved logs, although the design is fairly typical for the 1920s, with a shingle roof and masonry heaters in all rooms.
We now operate a smallholding that is sensitive to the environment at Larsbogård. Visitors who arrive by cycle, on foot or on horseback enjoy discounted prices for accommodation and other benefits.
The land is farmed using traditional methods with horses and grazing mules, and this encourages biological diversity here. There is a warm and welcoming spirit, you are never “just another guest” for us, and we are available as hosts around the clock.
Rich experiences of the natural world can be enjoyed close to Larsbogård. There are five lakes and water courses within 15 minutes’ walk, the fishing is excellent and the most southerly lake in Sweden, with a natural stock of Arctic char is close. And our lake for swimming is just five minutes’ walk away.
The forest teems with life: not only elk but also wood grouse, black grouse, wolverines, bears, lynx, badgers and other exciting species. There are ample opportunities for berry picking and mushroom foraging in the forests, and we arrange courses for those wishing to learn more. And of course, you can take a guided tour by horse and carriage, or simply relax. Järvsöbackarna (alpine skiing), Harsagården (outdoor activities) and Järvzoo (wildlife park) can all be reached within 40 minutes by car. It is possible to rent snowmobiles in the winter, and kick-scooters and ski, in order to explore the surroundings.
